ChateauThis eleventh century castle is a wonderfully romantic place to stay. Perched on a hill in La Roque sur Pernes, which is between Isle sur la Sorgue and Carpentras, the castle has three gorgeous suites and two double rooms, all with private bath and stunning views of the valley below. The rooms are exquisitely decorated, with a wonderfully eclectic mix of the very old and the very modern. The property has been featured in a number of significant design/decor magazines in France. The building has been skilfully restored and enhanced, but it still retains evidence of its medieval past, with ramparts, a drawbridge door and turrets. The knowledgeable and helpful owner will be delighted to tell you the story of the house and its transformation into this unique small hotel. Enjoy relaxing in the landscaped gardens, or visit the nearby medieval village with its eleventh century church and tiered houses. Dinners are served (but you must reserve in advance) and there is a good winelist of regional wines. This is a non-smoking inn. The owners can organize transfer from the airport or train station.
