The Manoir Saint Thomas was once a priory that was founded in 1107 by Hugh 1st, the Lord of Amboise. It has been skilfully and carefully refurbished and is now is a delightful eight room hotel. Each room at the Manor evokes the history of the pretty town of Amboise: period fireplaces, a principal staircase, a turret of dressed stone, ceilings with painted beams and lovely carved woodwork. These all serve as reminders of centuries past and provide a relaxing atmosphere for its guests. Go for a stroll in the shaded garden or maybe a dip in the swimming pool. The hotel stands in a garden of about 2,000 square metres at the heart of the town of Amboise. Relax in the shade of the silver-leaved, hundred year old lime trees and admire the statue of Meditation, dating from about 1800, which stands in the middle of the garden. To the side of the garden is a gravelled parking area. There is no dining room at the hotel but there are many in the vicinity.

It was friendly. It was relaxing without being 'dead'. The premises were authentic and not over-improved. The breakfast was good.
Didn't Like:
There was no air-conditioning, which is fine because the rooms are very large, but they should maybe provide a fan when it's really hot.”
