Located in La Roquette, one of the very oldest areas of Arles, and very close to the Arena, the Antique Theatre and the banks of the river Rhône, is this hidden gem. Hidden behind a wrought-iron gate, this is a wonderfully romantic, quiet, discreet, and sophisticated small hotel. There is a small pool and an elegant garden where you may enjoy breakfast. With just eight double rooms and four suites in two buildings, it is a wonderful place to stay, and from which to explore old Arles. The rooms are spacious with delightful contemporary provencal furniture and some with four poster beds. The furnishings are subtle, in soft colours, and there is marble, handpainted wallpaper and lots of light. The rooms (some non-smoking) have internet access, satellite television, minibar and spacious ensuite bathrooms. Some of the rooms have a fireplace. The 18th century building was once owned by the Baron of Chartrouse and is steeped in history. There is no restaurant at the hotel but there are many within easy walking distance. The hotel has been featured by Cote Sud, Casa, and Pays de Provence - definitely a newsworthy and special place to stay. Highly recommended.
