Set on the border between Normandy & Brittany, 20km south of Mont-Saint-Michel, in a uniquely preserved agricultural landscape of rolling hills, forests and wild, unspoilt coastal scenery, this listed 17th century castle is most famous for its gardens. It is a great base from which to enjoy this unspoilt region's contryside, coast and charming towns such as Dinan, Dinard, Cancale, Combourg, Fougères and Saint-Malo. Contemporary art collectors and publishers Marie-France Barrère and Alain Schrotter will welcome you in their elegant home. They describe their approach to running this small hotel as exemplifying the "art de vivre", truly personal, original and refined. The four large and beautifully appointed bedrooms and the suite, all with canopy beds, and private en suite bathrooms are individually themed in period styles and furnished with elegant antiques and artworks. Carefully selected artworks create a pleasant, and quietly luxiurious atmosphere. The remarkable mannerist gardens, a listed historical monument, with pillars of yew, topiary twists and swirls and a labyrinth are augmented with sculptures carefully placed throughout the grounds. From the hanging gardens there is an extraordinary view on the bocage, stretching out over small valleys in the characteristic blues reminiscent of paintings by the Dutch primitives. The gardens present thirteen surprises for the visitor, a series of theatrical gardens in the baroque or mannerist style of the sixteenth centuries. These includes a fernery, a water trap, a scented chamber, an open air theatre, a temple of Diana, a maze and many other delights.

If the reservation is cancelled 30 to 15 days prior to arrival, 50% of the deposit will be kept by the hotel. If the reservation is cancelled 14 to 3 days prior to arrival, the total amount of the deposit will be kept by the hotel. If cancelled 72 hours or less prior to arrival, the full amount of the stay will be charged by the hotel. For cancellations of part of a stay, the hotel may charge 2 nights stay. The hotel may charge 15 Euros for any cancellation or change as an administration fee.
