The Chateau was exactly what I had hoped it would be. The place is beautifully redone, we stayed in the original 1500's manor house. The main house, where the dining facilities and additional rooms are, was special and very inviting. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and nice, and the food was unique, delicious and very special (the chef/owner has a love of all things far east, which helped to create some very interesting to the palate combination of local Normandie produce and Japanese flavors) The grounds were very inviting and nice to walk around and had we been there in warmer weather, I'm sure the beautiful pool would have been wonderful to enjoy.

On the edge of Cambremer in the Auge region of Normandy, amidst the timber fronted houses, and at the heart of one of the best cider producing areas, is the Chateau les Bruyères. This is an Empire period residence and 18th century manor house, now lovingly transformed into a charming hotel and gourmet restaurant. The Chateau Les Bruyères offers cosy rooms and a spacious suite in both the Empire chateau and the Norman manor house. All are decorated with taste, combining elegance and rustic style. Each room is finished in a different style and looks out either on the grounds, or the kitchen garden by the swimming pool. Old fashioned charm and modern comforts combine harmoniously with plasma TV, broadband and minibar. One lovely room on the ground floor has also been adapted for guests with reduced mobility. The gourmet restaurant is well-known: Philippe Harfaux is a master in the kitchen exploring authentic Auge cusine. During your stay at the Château Les Bruyères you can take advantage of treatments and massages with the resident physiotherapist each morning between 09.00 and 12.30. The house specialty is the Soft Energy massage using a mix of oils including the famous Argan oil, rich in vitamin C. Hot-air ballooning, golf and karting are all offered here or in the surrounding area.
