Please note that the Hotel's restaurant is closed from Sundays 3pm to Tuesdays 3pm from November/01 to April/30 This delightful, grand, eleven roomed inn is the former residence of the famous provencal Marquise Folco de Baroncelli Javo. Situated in the heart of the grape-growing area of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, the chateau has its own vineyard. The chateau is just 1.5 kilometres from the centre of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, and 14 kilometres from Avignon and Orange. The castle is perched on the summit of a small hill, giving spectacular views of the vineyards for miles around the Rhône valley. It was built at the end of the nineteenth century in the medieval style and has welcomed such notable Provencal poets as Alphonse Daudet and Frederic Mistral. At its gastronomic restaurant, or on the terrace overlooking the vineyards, listening to the crickets, you may enjoy the wonderful cuisine prepared by the chef and his team. Try a pan seared lobster from Brittany with dungeness crab meat, served with a consommé of ginger and milk. The castle's restaurant also, naturally, has an excellent winelist. The eleven rooms at the chateau, all ensuite, are decorated in a country style (with ginghams and florals) - the rooms are spacious and comfortable. A recent client commented "The staff was truly friendly and accommodating, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is close enough to Avignon, Orange, and the Pont du Garde to be a good base for the area. We have recommended this hotel highly to our friends, and hope to return ourselves someday."

Notes An excellent location from which to tour the many wineries in the Rhone Valley. The hotel is located just 10 km. from Avignon. Activities: biking in the vineyard or in the region. Golf courses at 10, 12 and 40 kms. Visit the many Roman and medieval sites of the region (Orange's Roman theatre, Pont du Gard, Vaison la Romaine, Avignon). Visit Les Beax de Provence, St. Remy de Provence, Isle sur la Sorgue, Aix en Provence, Gordes. See the truffle markets in the winter time, olives of Nyons, route of the Cote du Rhone.
