This nineteenth century small castle built in the Louis Philippe style, was originally home to one of Cognac’s most prestigious brandy-producing houses. Now it is a pleasant small hotel with twenty four guestrooms (six of which are deluxe category). Overlooking the valley of the River Charente, the Domaine has gorgeous views of the countryside around Cognac. The château is set in over 17 acres of quiet wooded parkland. In the morning, you can experience the pleasure of opening your shutters to clear views of the banks of the River Charente and the green patchwork of vines beyond. The rooms are of varying sizes and have flat screen television, direct-line telephone, wi-fi internet access and full bathroom with hairdryer. The deluxe rooms also have a minibar, safe and towel warmer in the bathroom. The upper-floor rooms under the roof have bow windows opening out onto the château grounds. The rooms are all comfortably furnished, some with one big bed and others with twin beds. The Domaine’s gastronomic restaurant has large picture windows with views over the valley of the River Charente. In good weather, enjoy dining on the terrace. Domaine du Breuil is one of the best places to eat in Cognac. The head chef, Christophe Salnitro-Cauvin, uses produce from the area in new and exciting ways. After a day visiting the brandy warehouses, try the Accord Cognac menu. As a brandy lover and connoisseur, the chef has concocted an exclusive menu, each course of which incorporates a selected brandy. On the grounds, enjoy the wooded parkland that surrounds the château at any time of year - for an early-morning jog, a siesta in the shade of a hundred-year-old tree, a stroll on the lawns. In the summer months, you can dive into the heated water of the infinity pool, try out the fine gravel of the French bowls ground or improve your golf swing on the driving range. The hotel also has a table-tennis table, a variety of indoor games and golf balls and clubs for you to get in some practice on our driving range or the two holes we have within the château grounds. For those who like to explore their surroundings, you may hire bicycles for the day or half-day (€15 and €8 respectively). Various special programs are offered, for example, up to 31 May stay for five nights and the sixth night is free (lodging only). Half board is also available.
