Meals must be ordered in advance. The hotel offers a set menu of either French or Italian with wine and coffee included for approx. 70 Euros.
This delightful five roomed hotel in the Chateau de Vauloge started its life in the 15th century, built by Jean III de Vauloge, complete with broad moats and crenellated walls. A town grew up around the Chateau, including the mill. In the late 18th century, the son of the original owner transformed his father's castle into a splendid country residence. After the French Revolution, a new castle was built around the original (designed by the architect Delarue, who restored Le Mans cathedral) in a style known as 19th century troubadour. Now the chateau is a comfortable and fascinating small hotel where guests have spacious rooms (all en suite of course) and their own entrance and use of the salon and a library. Elegantly decorated with flowers in each room and a welcome aperitif - it is a very special place to stay. There are walks in the woods and along the banks of a small river on the property, and in the surroundings are possibilities for the rental of boats, houseboats and canoes, fishing, golf, cruises. Being close to Le Mans, there is the Car Museum, and the castles of the Loire (Chenonceau, Amboise, Villandry, Azay le Rideau, Cheverny, Blois, Talcy and Chambord.) Dinner can be prepared for you (with advance notice) at approx. 60 euros per person including wines. Note that prices are higher during Le Mans (7-15 June), GP Moto (20-23 May) and Le Mans Classic (8-12 July) with a minimum stay of 3 nights or 4 nights.

Liked:
Loved the chateau - very beautiful. Gardens well kept and inside spotlessly clean and very gracious. Welcome and attention from owners was extremely friendly and we felt very relaxed. Bed very comfortable and very peaceful surroundings. Dinner was good with wine included and breakfast was excellent.
Didn't Like:
Maybe a couple of extra towels in the bathroom would have been nice and 2 robes not just one. Although there is a self service drinks bar and fridge for guests' use, it would have been pleasant to have been served a drink in the gardens during the afternoon (it was very hot and we just didn't feel like getting up going into chateau and bringing drinks out). We did have a lovely glass of champagne with the owners before dinner.
Rating: Very Good
