One hour drive east of Paris, in a large park, is this pretty chateau in the Champagne area. The Chateau was built on the ruins of the 13th century castle of Count Robert de Dreux (a grandson of Louis VI). There are two castles on the property, the first built in 1206 and the second in the 16th century which is the existing chateau that has been skilfully converted to a small hotel. Each of the nineteen rooms and six suites is uniquely decorated with antique furniture, each with its own private bathroom as well as internet access, television and minibar. The restaurant serves traditional French cuisine and is home to 10,000 bottles of fine wines (note that the restaurant is closed on Mondays from 01-03 to 03-21 and from 11-7 to 12-9) There is a heated swimming pool in the grounds which comprise a 10 hectare park and a large terrace.
