This gorgeous small hotel and superb restaurant, under chef Cedric Bechade, is on a hill facing the Rhune mountains, just 8 km. from beaches and St. Jean de Luz. Originally a 17th century Basque farm and house, a skilfull renovation has kept its charming authenticity, with the rear facade and restaurant having a more modern feel. Cedric Bechade (formerly chef at le Plaza Athéne in Paris) oversees the kitchen and restaurant: the cuisine is simple, fresh, innovative and, in a word, wonderful. The house is set in lush green gardens and the ensuite rooms have views over the countryside or the park. There are rooms with king size beds or twin beds and some of the rooms have their own balcony. The two suites are superb with bedroom, sitting room, private terrace. All rooms have wifi, are air conditioned and have flat screen television. The decor is understated, sophisticated and restful. There are also two two-bedroom apartments (rented only on a weekly basis). They have fully equipped kitchens with dishwasher and, if you get tired of self-catering, there is full access to breakfast, lunch and dinner service. There is no cleaning or room service but linens are changed every four days. At the hotel, there is a small meeting room (complete with tables, video projector etc.) for up to twenty people.
