At the crossroads of the Périgord and Quercy Regions, from the Dordogne to the Lot Rivers, close to the caves of Lacave, between Souillac and Rocamadour, is the hotel-restaurant Le Pont de L’Ouysse, tucked beneath Belcastel. With just twelve guestrooms and two apartments - not to mention a pretty garden and swimming pool - it is a friendly and welcoming place to stay. Some of the rooms are in the main house above the restaurants and others in a separate building. And if you enjoy good food, the gastronomic offerings are exceptional. The magic of evening meals in the open air, during the summer, is matched by the aesthetic pleasures inside the hotel - from the discreet little bar to the comfortable lounges, airy and spacious yet still intimate. The local produce in this region is abundant: fish, game, meat, fruit or vegetables all of superb quality. Add the Chambon family’s passion and skills in the kitchen and you are in for some memorable dining experiences. From the ancient fountain at the hotel's entrance to the venerable Citroën, which is the patron’s pride and joy, everything about the hotel-restaurant Le Pont de l’Ouysse indicates a respect for tradition. More than a hundred years go the original farm on the site probably became the Hôtel-Café du Pont de l’Ouysse in1886, when a stone bridge was built across the little river and the workmen spread the news of the splendid country meals provided by the farmer’s wife. Since then, the kitchen has passed from generation to generation and then, at the beginning of 1977, to Marinette and Daniel Chambon, who were honoured with a Michelin star 12 years later.
