Nestled in the heart of Les Baux in Provence is this delightful tiny inn with just three rooms. La Dame a la Licorne (for two) has a queen sized bed and full bathroom. La Suite (for either 2 couples or a family) has a master bedroom with queen sized bed, a living room with a bed for two and another space for a single bed, complete with its own private terrace and full bathroom. Le Bijou (for 2 adults and two children) is a cosy apartment nestled at the top of the house, with master bedroom, tiny kitchen, living room with a sofabed and a private terrace. All have full bathrooms of course. The house is an artist's house and the highest residence in the Cite des Baux de Provence, in the heart of the chateau and overlooking the Val d'Enfer and the Alpilles, and the rooms are cut into the rocks. The house has artworks reflecting nearly a century of Les Baux life. Prices are for 2 persons in a room and include breakfast. For each additional person add 25 euros for extra bed and breakfast. Please note that it is impossible to get a car into Les Baux but there is parking at the entrance of the village at a one time cost of 4 euros for the whole stay. It is possible to get a car into Les Baux (to unload your luggage) between 5 p.m. and 10:30 a.m. There are wonderful restaurants surrounding the inn (including the world famous Oustau de Baumaniere and the Cabro d'Or)

Notes

Les Baux is one of the most fascinating areas in all of Provence and it is a very special place to stay (especially when the crowds have all disappeared and you and the few permanent residents have Les Baux to yourselves). Open at Christmas (2 night minimum) Check in 16:00 and check out latest 12:00 hrs.

“Ute and Benoit were very good hosts - treating us like guest in their home rather than there hotel (and as they live on the site this wasn't surprising I suppose). Knowing that Benoit was born in the village and built the house with his dad added a real authentic touch to our stay. The accomodation was perfect for a family of 4 and there attention to our needs went beyond hotel requirements into loan of personal maps etc. to get around. Despite the crowds, or perhaps because of them, we felt it was a very special treat to be staying in the village and it was a great place to be based for a week. A great week which we would do again.”
