La Villa de Mazamet was built towards the end of the Art Deco period in 1934 as a large family home and recently received the "Certificate of Excellence" from Trip Advisor (2010). Standing within a beautifully landscaped walled garden with direct views over the stunning Montagne Noire mountain range, it is just a short walk from the centre of the market town of Mazamet which is located about 40km north of Carcassonne. Mazamet is a bustling market town set amongst stunning scenery in the department of the Tarn, in the Midi-Pyrenees region., La Villa is one of the area's landmark buildings dating to a time when Mazamet had world importance for its wool industry. Extensive renovations were completed in May 2009 and now La Villa is a luxury Chambres d'hôtes/tables d'hôtes (bed & breakfast with restaurant) - offering five gorgeous guest bedrooms, restaurant, gardens & swimming pool. The beds are extremely comfortable and are dressed in Egyptian cotton sheets and fine pillows. The rooms contain flat screen TV, DVD Player, iPod docking station & complimentary WiFi. The full ensuite bathrooms have sumptuous towels, bathrobes & luxury toiletries from L'Occitane...and of course essentials like iron & ironing board, hair-dryer and tea & coffee making facilities. All bedrooms are 20 metres sq. (plus ensuite) with views of the mountains. Each has the original parquet flooring, individual marble fireplace and are decorated using the highest quality paints, fabrics and furnishings. La Villa is an ideal base from which to explore all that the Department of the Tarn (set in the Midi-Pyrenees region) and its neighbouring Languedoc-Roussillon have to offer. The English-speaking owners are friendly and helpful and this luxurious little inn is a relaxing, calm and low-key place to stay. Locally produced food and wines are an integral part of the dinner menu (approximate price 30 euros pp) and a full continental breakfast is included in the price of your room. There are some interesting yoga retreats, golf and romantic weekend packages available - just ask us. Albi is about an hour away and the World Heritage site of Carcassonne is just a 45 minutes drive. It is also possible to hire the entire villa for your exclusive use - with the possibility of including gourmet dinners and special excursions for your group (the villa sleeps up to fifteen people). This inn is unsuitable for children under seven. One room is designated to accept an extra bed for a child between 7 and 12 (25 euros/night.)

Notes Mazamet, and its surroundings, offers a championship golf course, lakes for fishing, swimming & boating, mountain walks in the Languedoc National Park, stunning medieval villages and expansive vineyards. At just over 300m above sea level, Mazamet's landscape is a contrast to the nearby mediterranean coast. The arid lansdscape is replaced by lush meadows and mountain forests of beech and oak.Yet the early spring, warm summers, and mild Autumns common in South West France still prevail. Albi, an hour's drive away, is the cultural centre of the department with its fine gothic cathedral dating back to 1232, and the famous Toulouse-Lautrec Museum. Further afield are Mediterranean beaches, Barcelona is a 3 hour drive and, in the winter, you can be on the ski slopes of the Pyrenees in 2 hours. Carcassonne is only 45 mins away - the UNESCO World Heritage Site covering the whole of the stunning medieval city.

A deposit of 25% of the total accommodation cost of your stay is required upon confirmation of reservation. Balance payable upon checkout. Cancellations received at least 21 days before arrival date, deposit is refundable. Cancellations received within 21 days before arrival date, the deposit will not be refunded. Cancellation part way through your stay, remaining nights will be charged in full. If we are able to re-sell the room, for nights cancelled, a refund will be made. Note that special holidays (Easter, Christmas etc.) have special rates and minimum stays are required.
