Situated at Montluçon, between the river Cher and the great route of the Auvergne, and in the heart of a beautiful old park, is the Chateau Saint-Jean with its hotel and restaurant. Former residence of the Malta Order Knights of Saint Jean of Jerusalem, the chateau is historically significant. Since 1925 it has had a hotel attached to it and a restaurant in the Roman Chapel (from the 12th century). Chef Thierry Douault and his team will delight you with their creative cuisine. There is a heated indoor swimming pool, a billiard room, a salon with a view over the park and a pleasant bar. The hotel (and pool) are situated in an annex of the Chateau and there are twenty spacious ensuite rooms (some with double bed and some with twin beds). The simply-decorated rooms are on three floors (served by a lift) and all offer views of the park. There is a permanent exhibition of paintings by several artists, among them Putov throughout the buildings.

Meal Information

The gastronomic restaurant serves lunch and dinner (from 12.30 am to 1.30 pm). The restaurant is closed on Sunday nights from November till April except on Feb/14. Menus start at approx. 23 Euros at lunch time from Monday to Saturday, except Public holidays and from approx.36.50 Euros on week-ends and evenings. Other menus are approx. 47 and 67 Euros. Restaurant and Hotel closed on Sunday nights (only – open at lunch time) from November till April except on Feb/14.

18 hole golf course 5 km. away. Horseriding 10 km. Nearest airport is Aulnat Clermont-Ferrand at 100 km. and the closes rail station is Montlucon Ville which is 2 km. from the Chateau.
