Some special events during 2009 - Calais and surrounding areas
12 June sees the opening of the World of Lace and Fashion in Calais. An epic exhibition on Mria Dompe from 4 - 16 May will lead up to the opening. The exhibition retraces the history of the renowned mechanical lace of Calais and will welcome innovative fashion designers and artists from around the world
25 July is the one hundred year anniversary celebrations of Louis Bleriot's flight across the Channel. Before and after this date numerous activities and exhibitions take place. Full program from the Cote d'Opale Tourist office, see

Four day cycle race of Dunkirk 5 - 10 May.
