Château Le Mas de Montet is a beautifully restored Renaissance château, where Président François Mitterrand was a regular guest. Sumptuously appointed with period furnishings throughout, the privately owned Château provides elegant luxury, comfort and complete relaxation. The Château has recently undergone an extensive renovation. There is a beautiful swimming pool (open from May to October). Ten suites and bedrooms are located on the first and second floors of the Château. Bedrooms (all no-smoking) are classified as either Luxe or Grand Luxe, with the Mitterand Suite being in a class apart. All rooms have been individually designed, most with four-poster beds and offer views of the park, supremely comfortable beds with luxurious pocketed spring mattresses, fine Egyptian cotton bed linen with individual duvets, bathrooms with Villeroy and Bosch fittings, a British three-pin electrical socket. Dinner is a la carte, a four course menu with choice including a vegetarian menu. The speciality is traditional French cooking with the occasional influence from the rest of the world, using excellent fresh ingredients. There are also one or two recommended local restaurants in the vicinity. Château Le Mas de Montet is set in 130 acres of parkland and ancient woodland, bordered by the River Dronne. This is where the Périgord Vert and the South Charente meet, a delightful blend of rolling hills, forest and waterways. Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, one of Les Plus Beaux Villages de la France, is just five minutes away. A magnificent place to relax with the opportunity to explore the Dordogne, the Charente, and the Bordeaux region.
