The Cap de Castel Hotel is a small charming hotel set within a typical medieval village, dominating the Lauragais hills and valleys, renowned as Little Tuscany, in the rural south of France. Located a few miles from Albi, Toulouse, Carcassonne and Castelnaudary, it is named after the 13th century Castel (in Occitan patois), and you can still see the outbuildings and ramparts forming the property overlooking south to the Pyrenees and Black Mountain chains. The view is breathtaking, and this is a perfect base from which to discover the surrounding little villages, vineyards and interesting cultural sites. Or you may prefer to simply relax on the shaded terrace near the pool. There are ten guestrooms in two renovated 17th century buildings. During the renovation, traditional and environmentally-friendly materials were used, and various shades of ochre are used in the decoration. The views are of either the Cocagne or Lauragais countrysides. The Suite has a private entrance, and is ideal for a family (up to five guests). Each ensuite bedroom is fitted with a king size bed and can be changed to twin beds on request; they have TV, DVD players, telephone, kettle, hair dryer and Wifi internet access is also available. All rooms are non-smoking. The small restaurant offers a gourmet combination of local and Mediterranean cuisine (Charcuterie, foie gras, confit, cassoulet de Castelnaudary, selection of farm cheeses) with an excellent wine selection. Our Feedback
Rating: Excellent “Liked: Everything.
The hotel is absolutely charming with unique rooms and a wonderful view.
David and his staff were absolutely fabulous for our entire stay, we were treated extremely well and the food was wonderful.
I would highly recommend Cap de Castel if you are in the region and we will definitely be going back. Didn't Like: There wasn't anything that we didn't like.” Rating: Excellent “Liked: The warm and personal welcome from David Henry which included a little history of the building. The lovely l'occitane products sensibly provided in bulk containers to reduce wastage. The bed and pillows were very comfortable - so important. The view from the terrace - stunning! Didn't Like: Nothing!” Rating: Excellent “Liked: The whole experience was a joy. The room we had was so beautiful and spotlessly clean with a lovely view.
David, Pascal and all the staff are adorable and make you feel very special. The restaurant is very serene, and we were lucky enough to eat under the stars by the pool for two nights. The pool is clean and quiet, with a cold water fountain provided and unobtrusive bar service when you need it.We spent each afternonn there, mostly alone as other visitors were overnighting - wonderful! Didn't Like: The only thing was that ,understanably. there is no dining service on Sundays (they have to have some rest!), and it was hard at this time of year to find a decent restaurant in the area without the necessity to take the car out.” Rating: Excellent “Outstanding accommmodation/wine/food. A unique and beautiful situation.” Rating: Excellent “Liked: everything, our room, the food, the staff, all terrific Didn't Like: it was perfect...true story”
