Just a few miles from the historic towns of Vitré and Rennes, close to Mont St. Michel and St. Malo, the Château des Tesnières is a wonderful castle built between 1852 and 1867, and completely refurbished and transformed into a luxury small hotel in 2003. Set in fifteen acres of parkland, you can enjoy a walk through the park where there are century-old oaks and cedars, forests, orchards and pasture. Sit by the pond and enjoy the water lilies, salamanders, frogs - a perfect place to meditate. On the ground floor of the Château des Tesnières there is a spacious and elegant Louis XVI drawing room, a library and a dining room, all at your disposal. The tower next to the drawing room also has a desk with PC and ADSL internet access fully at your disposal. The tower next to the dining room has a bar, so you can have drinks whenever you want. The Château offers two two spacious rooms and four luxury suites, all with a great view of the Breton countryside. The rooms of the Château des Tesnières offer a perfect mariage between historic charm and the comforts of today, each room being equipped with a safe, satellite television and a stereo. All have full bathrooms with bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer and Rituals bath products. From the hotel there is easy access to all the major tourist attractions in the region. The 18 hole golfcourse Golf des Rochers is just 10 minutes away. There are many excellent restaurants in the vicinity. The closest airport is about 40 km away at Rennes.
Notes
Cote d’Armor: famous for its Côte de Granit Rose. Cap Fréhel is one of the grandest on the Breton Coast . Its red, grey and black cliffs rise vertically to a height of 70 m and are fringed with reefs on which the swell breaks heavily. The coastal panorama is vast in clear weather from Pointe du Grouin, on the right, with Cotentin in the background, to Île Bréhat, on the left. Finistère: Not only the most western part of Brittany but also of France , where the people still speak the Breton language. Dividing the Cornouaille and the Léon and extending eastwards as far as Huelgoat, the Arrée Mountains are the highest in Brittany . Unique are the parish closes, the most typical monumental grouping in Breton communities. Famous towns in this part of Brittany are Roscoff in the north, Concarneau in the south and, of course, Quimper. The Golfe du Morbihan is very popular in summer for its beaches and scenery, and the Belle Île. Of course the other famous place of interest is Carnac . The considerable number of megaliths surrounding Carnac has made it the symbol of prehistoric Brittany. Our suite in the chateau was extremely clean and though there was no bar fridge, well equipped. The breakfast was excellent and was provided when requested. Siebrenn was a great host, knowledgeable of the area and his restaurant recommendations were most helpful.
