The Hotel does not accept AMEX In the heart of the Vaucluse, in Provence, facing the white range of the Alpilles and the village of Velleron, the Hostellerie la Grangette, backs on to its a woodland of oak trees. In a quiet residential area, its features are those of a fine residence, typical of the Comtat area. Jean and Brigitte will give you a warm welcome to this little hotel with its red wooden shutters. The feeling here is of entering a residence where time seems to have stood still, surrounded by old objects from local antique shops and markets of l'Isle sur la Sorgue. The rooms, overlooking the Alpilles or the woodlands, are simply decorated and have ensuite bathrooms (decoration reminiscent of the fifties). We recommend the rooms in the old part of the house rather than in the newer annex. There is a huge swimming pool and a pleasant seating area under the mulberry trees. The gastronomic restaurant (for guests only) is excellent, and there is the possibility of half board. In the nearby town of l'Isle sur la Sorgue you can enjoy wandering around the antique markets, and there are many trails and circuits which will lead you to artisans producing olive oils, nougat or artworks. There is an excellent farmers market in Velleron. Various types of therapeutic massage are available at Hostellerie la Grangette (these need to be booked in advance).

Approx. 30 minutes from Avignon, Villeneuve les Avignon, Mont Ventoux, Orange, Sault et ses lavandes, Le Luberon, Gordes, Apt, Les Alpilles, Saint Rémy et les Baux de Provence, Aix en Provence. For the more adventurous try a descent of the Sorgue river in a canoe or try out your skills jumping from tree to tree. You can also enjoy discovering the fantastic villages around, all steeped in history. In the summertime, the festivals of Avignon, Orange, Vaison-la-Romaine or of the Roque d’Anthéron are fabulous and should not be missed.

Didn't Like:
No air conditoning in the rooms, it was very hot in early August in Provence. Double bed was fine, but it was on the floor not raised up. Should be a bit more elegant for the price.”
