At the foot of the Massif des Maures in the heart of the Var region (Provence – Cote d’Azur) is this delightful little Bastide with just five guestrooms. Between the sea and Verdon, the property is on twelve hectares or vine-covered land. The non-smoking rooms each have a private bathroom: Le Bastidon has either one or two bedrooms (for two or four people), and the pleasant La Roserai, La Lavandiere and the 1900’s caravan La Roulotte will sleep two. There is a pleasant heated swimming pool in the garden – and also a petanque area. The friendly owners, Alain and Josiane, love to cook and offer guests a (roughly) 28 euros dinner menu complete with wine. This is a low-key, friendly place to stay and is a perfect base from which to explore the interesting area.

Notes

Visit the Bastide villages from the middle ages. Horseback riding in the area. Canoeing, golf and fishing in the vicinity. Visit Les vignobles des Côtes de Provence, L'abbaye cistercienne du Thoronet, Le Monasterne de la Verne, le château d'Entrecasteaux, les gorges du Verdon, le lac de Ste-Croix, and Tourtour. The closest train station is Les Arcs (5 km) and the closest airport is Nice or Marseilles (90 km).
